Phys. Ed and Extra-curricular Sports
In the Lower School, the physical education program consists primarily of co-operative games. In the Middle School, competitive team sports and specific sports skills are introduced consisting of gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, soccer and floor hockey.
Students in Grades Six through Eight have an athletic uniform which is worn during physical education classes. The uniform consists of shorts and a school shirt (both of which can be obtained through the school office), running shoes and athletic socks.
As a member of the Small Schools Athletic Federation (SSAF), an organization of small, independent schools in the larger Toronto area, the school offers an extra-curricular sports program for students of Grades Six to Eight. The following sports may be offered:
- Girls’ Basketball
- Girls’ Volleyball
- Girls’ Floor Hockey
- Boys’ Basketball
- Boys’ Volleyball
- Boys’ Floor Hockey
The above teams are open to all students in the appropriate grades who are willing to make a commitment to attend practices and games on a regular basis. The practice and game schedule is posted on the athletic bulletin board on the Grade School level of the school. Games are played both at The Alan Howard Waldorf School and at other schools throughout the Toronto area.
