The Waldorf curriculum grows out of the work of Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), an Austrian scientist, philosopher, artist and educator who founded the first Waldorf School in Stuttgart, Germany in 1919.

Waldorf Schools are part of the largest and fastest growing independent school movements in the world. Today, there are more than eight hundred schools scattered over five continents, fifteen of which are in Canada. Waldorf education provides a comprehensive, academic, artistic, cultural and practical education that encourages students to develop into creative, balanced, responsible and freethinking individuals.

At the heart of the Waldorf approach is the belief that education is an art and that life must be presented to children in such a way that they are filled with wonder and reverence and fired with enthusiasm.
